ARCH101
Basics Of Design
INFO
Arch101 is the first year introduction to basics of design studio. Main goal here is to understand and to absorb the relations between elements, units and volumes. Creating and producing is our objective.

Assignment 02-1

Assignment 02-1
We started with the concept of relating the elements. Alignment was the keyword of this era.
Then concept of units, groups and their relations started to occur. We slowly learned how to create a composition through this process.

Preperation to the Pin-Up

For the first Mid-Term we created a temporary gallery called Pin-Up then we presented and explained our projects to our instructors for the first time with our posters and drawings.

Assignment 05-2 Revision
At the end of this process we presented our final projects at our first Pre-Jury. This presentation included our physical models, orthogonal section and axonometric drawings, diagrams and design strategy catalog.
After the Pin-Up we jumped to the concept of volumes. Creating volumes and interrelating them in a strategical manner was the goal of this era.

Right after the Pre-Jury we introduced to the concept of hinches and tresholds. To see the real life applications of them we went to METU to see some of the best examples of them. These are the notes and sketches I got from the site study.

After understanding how things come together by hinches and how we come together with things by the thresholds we started to revise our models in that manner. While doing that we also paid attention to our main objective, interrelated volumes and we got our personal critics in terms of compositions untill the Final-Jury.

FINAL JURY

For the Final-Jury I focused on the concept of riff and tried to achieve a similar structure at my model. This process was a bit experimental for me, because, I worked with my guitar and decided some organizational walues with some riffs or songs that I wrote and some other classics that I adore. Relations between riffs and structures of songs inspired me while I'm connecting and relating parts.

For the Final-Jury we had to include our model images, orthogonal drawings, normal and exploded axonometric drawings, diagrams, our design chatalogs and an animation that shows the values and strategies of our model.
